TITLE: The Planning and Urban Design of Marina Bay & MBFC
Presentation Synopsis:
The
talk will focus on Singapore’s approach to urban development and the
planning initiatives behind Marina Bay. Strategically located in the
centre of Southeast Asia, Singapore
is now well recognised as one of the most livable cities in Asia.
There are many attributes that have contributed to this accolade
including excellent infrastructure, a quality education system and good
healthcare.
Nevertheless this would not have been achievable without a robust
forward-looking and comprehensive planning system, the contributions of
many different government agencies and strategic partnerships with the
private sector. Marina Bay, as a business and
financial district and a vibrant 24-7 waterfront ‘Garden City by the
Bay’, is a precinct that is planned, and is being developed to sustain
the long-term growth of our city centre and anchor Singapore as a
leading global business and financial hub in Asia.
Marina Bay Financial Centre (MBFC) is Singapore’s largest integrated development in the New Downtown at Marina Bay, designed
to ensure Singapore’s place as a financial capital in Asia and a key hub in the world financial system.
Marina
Bay Financial Centre stands on a 3.55 hectare site, offering a
breathtaking blend of three office towers with nearly
three million square feet of prime Grade A office space, two
residential towers comprising 649 luxury apartments and retail space of
approximately 176,000 square feet – all clustered around a stunning
waterfront park. Its vibrant work.live.play atmosphere
integrates residential, business and retail facilities.
